CUSTOMERS have just become aware of a surcharge Walmart has adopted, and shoppers don't think it's worth it.

The large retailer has tacked on a fee for those who want to get their items faster - it's called express delivery.

Walmart launched the service back in 2020 in the early stages of the pandemic as consumer habits shifted.

By 2021, the retail giant said it was offered in nearly 3,000 stores.

However, some shoppers are just realizing the surcharge - and they aren't happy about it.

While customers can now skip the $35 minimum delivery requirement, they’ll now be charged a $10 delivery charge for express.

Furious fans took to Twitter and expressed their shock: "Damn. Walmart express delivery is crazy expensive."

Others were not only mad at the fee, but they also claimed their groceries weren't delivered any faster.

One user wrote: "Walmart express delivery is the absolute worse! I placed an order on March 9 it was supposed to be delivered 10-11am same day, it's March 12 and the 'express delivery' still has not arrived."

Shoppers will still have to pay to skip delivery fees, but it may be worth the money in the long term.

Signing up for Walmart + costs $12.95 per month or shoppers can pay $98 annually.

By joining Walmart + the typical $7.95-$9.95 delivery charge is gone.

However, note that the Express Delivery fee is still $10 for members and standard Walmart customers.

The Walmart + membership works similarly to Amazon.

Customers have two options for payment - annual membership costing $98 per year or paying monthly just $12.95 per month.

It may be wise to choose the annual option as it saves shoppers $57.40 per year.

The membership offers tons of perks that could even pay for itself within the first few months.

Benefits include:

The company plans to increase the number of Walmart Health centers from 32 to over 75 by the end of 2024.

The plans will allow for the first-ever centers to be introduced in Missouri and Arizona.

Currently, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Texas are the only states with Walmart Health Centers.

Plus, the company has put millions of dollars into its new store layout called the "store of the future."

Changes will be to its look and layout in order to improve how customers shop.

This includes bedroom and bathroom displays featuring Walmart products, similar to Ikea.

The displays also have QR codes that will take the customer right to the Walmart website to learn more about the product.

The large retailer has also added a fee on a popular grocery essential in one state.

Plus, Walmart is closing four more stores after the CEO makes remarks on theft.
